Well, it's been awhile since I posted last, almost a week actually.
So this week has been somewhat difficult to follow the diet, mainly because of the NCAA final. We went out to BW3's where I had 12 wings and some nachos. I find myself a little confused about the boundaries of my diet. Basically because to keep the diet I could never eat out. In Portland and my current lifestyle, that's impossible.
Now having said that, I have drastically cut down on eating out, especially lunch. I used to stop and get Arby's or Wendy's 2 or 3 times a week. Last week, not once. I have eaten out for pizza and did have Tai Food for lunch.
I went to see Kooza with my little brother (Keyontay) where we had pizza and I did indulge in a Pepsi. It tasted real good, but I knew it was wrong. I would like to have the rule of 1 pepsi a week for at least the first 2 months. I know this is bad, but I've been drinking the stuff for over 20 years and it's pretty hard to kick. Right now I think I'll use it as my reward for all of the other things I'm removing from my life.
Now for the super good news, I just checked my weight and am down to 212.4 lbs since April 1st. It's not a big loss, but it's a loss in my mind. Maybe in a month, I'll be down under 200.
Thanks for my wonderful wife who is preparing all of the weird, but healthy food.

Day 2: the shopping and suffering
Well, my first day wasn't perfect. I was invited to lunch by my boss. I tried to eat somewhat healthy, but not sure how healthy the sauce was on my Pa Nang Curry.
I was then invited to a new opening of the Lucky Lab in town for Happy Hour. I only had two beers, but those are 2 of my 4 for the week. I think the week should end on Saturdays. I felt a little down last night probably due to the lack of caffeine (pepsi). I woke up about 3 am with a nasty headache, which again I'll blame on the caffeine missing from my veins.
I woke up and decided I would do my grocery shopping today and see how difficult it was to shop healthy. It wasn't too bad, basically fruits, veggies, and meat. I did buy some milk although it is processed it is pretty much a staple in society (so is Big Macs, I guess). The costs was a little higher for the amount of food, but I did go to an actual butchers and get the meat. This is to help satisfy my goal of buying local. I also find that they provide a better service and answer any questions that I may have.
I hope to make some bean and ham soup sometime in the next couple of days. I also bought myself some ground chuck because I haven't had a homemade 'beef' hamburger in a while.
I'm worried about the weekend because there's some basketball on and I need to watch my beer intake. Two is my number, then it's water. So, so, sad, but hopefully my body will reward me my shedding some pounds.

Goodbye processed food
Today is the day.... yes the day that I try to remove processed food from my life. I started my day by weighing myself. I was disappointed when I saw the 217.4 lbs come up on the scale after sucking in my stomach to see the actual number.
I got up and thought about breakfast. I forgot to go do my 'healthy' shopping last night so I found an apple that wasn't to mushy in our fruit bowl.
First note - I don't want to see food go to waste if I can help it.....
The rest of my day should be interesting... just me, my water, and trying to figure out what's for lunch.

Preparing for the change
Well, I'm preparing for this major change in my life. I'm excited, and a little scared. For this adventure, I hope to tell a little bit about myself and why I've decided to take on this challenge. I hope to discuss the reasons how I got to where I am and why I believe I need to change.
The official start date is April 1st. And no this isn't a prank, but hopefully a date I can remember later on that changed my life.
